Co-Producing Legally Blonde:

Furthering my love for theater through a new medium: organization.

April, 2025

Background:

Missing my theater community experience I had in high school, I applied to Co-Produce Ram’s Head’s Spring Musical: Legally Blonde. Due to Covid, engagement with the arts at Stanford stalled. I pledged to reverse that.

Throughout a 14 week rehearsal period, I was entrusted with running a 60+ person production, refining my leadership and communication skills in a familiar environment.

Process:

With no time to spare, my Co-Producer and I lead all hiring decisions from Stage Manager, Technical Director, to Scenic Painter. We mapped out and ensured adherence to a strict budget.

We developed a cohesive 14 week rehearsal plan to ensure all members of the cast felt ready to perform at their best.

Learning how to navigate differing departments at Stanford, I served as an intermediary between the Office of Student Engagement, TAPS Department, and Ram’s Head.

Marketing:

Determined to reignite interest within student theater, I lead an intense marketing push across campus. Partnering with a student photographer, we created countless marketing materials intended to reach every single student on campus, no matter what community they interacted with.

Along side an extreme marketing campaign, I contacted and organized Amanda Brown, Legally Blonde’s Author, and Heather Hatch, Legally Blonde The Musical’s Author, attendance and post show Q&A!

On closing night, we grossed over $30,000 in ticket sales, becoming the highest grossing show and highest attended Ram’s Head Spring Musical since 2013.
